Preston is about to get a little more festive this year! For the first time, the city will host its very own Christmas market, bringing the magic of Christmas right to the heart of Preston. With twinkling lights, cosy stalls, and a warm, festive atmosphere, the market promises to be a new favourite tradition for locals and visitors alike. Get ready to sip on mulled wine, browse handmade gifts, and enjoy the Christmas spirit like never before!
First and foremost, rest assured that this is a legitimate project, led by genuine local individuals and is not a scam.
We’ve been putting in a huge amount of effort behind the scenes to make this event happen. While the public, council, and police have shown us strong personal support, unfortunately, the financial backing we hoped for just hasn’t come through.
We, and we’re sure you do too, want this event to compete with those in other cities, like Manchester. But to make that a reality, it’s going to take a significant investment—the total cost is over £120,000!
The financial support we requested amounted to less than 25% of the total cost and was intended to cover infrastructure. This would allow us to offer huts to vendors at a reduced rate, making them more accessible and affordable for smaller, local businesses.
We’re determined to make this happen in 2025! We’ll keep collaborating with local authorities and businesses to give Preston the event it truly deserves. Your continued support is crucial to bringing this project to life and proving that local people like us can create something amazing for our cherished city.
For Christmas 2024, we are working on securing permission for a smaller setup outside The Winter Lodge on Friargate, following advice to start on a smaller scale to demonstrate the potential of The Christmas Markets for Preston.
